Antioch has a queen: Catalina Duque Abreu, Miss Antioquiawas crowned as the new Miss Colombia in Cartagena de Indias. The department has not won for 28 years.
The 24-year-old young woman, originally from Medellín and a Social Communicator from the EAFIT University, conquered the jury and the public in a ceremony held on November 10, 2024 at the Julio César Turbay Ayala Convention Center.
The event, in which they participated 31 candidates from all regions of Colombia, marked the 90th anniversary of the contest, which continues to be a reference for the country’s culture and tradition. This year, the competition stood out for its historical celebration and the presence of former national queens as judges.
A special anniversary
The National Beauty Contest commemorated 90 years of history with an edition that revived traditions such as the Swimsuit Parade, the Battle of Flowers and the Nautical Festival, in which the contestants dazzled the spectators.
In the first phase of the night, Catalina competed with other outstanding finalists, such as the representatives of Atlántico, Valle, Caribe Region and Riohacha. After an intense evening, Señorita Antioquia and Señorita Atlántico were the main contenders, and finally, the jury selected Catalina as the winner.
Catalina Duque Abreu Not only did she win the title of Miss Colombia; He also fulfilled the dream of the Antioquians of obtaining the crown again.
The new Miss Colombia, who also has studies in Digital Marketing, works at Cementos Argos and has focused her career on the empowerment of women.
Catalina will have the responsibility of representing the country in the Miss International contest in Japan, in 2025.
