CASPER Ruud recorded his 26th win of the year, Thursday (18/4), to advance to the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open.
The world number six from Norway beat Australia’s Jordan Thompson 6-1, 6-4 to surpass Jannik Sinner as the player with the most wins in 2024.
Ruud, who finished runner-up at the Monte Carlo Masters following losing to Stefanos Tsitsipas last weekend, immediately led 5-0 in the first set once morest Thompson.
He then broke in the seventh game of the second set before winning in 73 minutes.

In the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open, Ruud will face Matteo Arnaldi following the world number 40 from Italy beat Argentina’s Marco Trungelliti 6-3, 6-0.
Meanwhile, Tsitsipas also advanced to the quarter-finals of the Barcelona Open following winning 7-5, 6-3 over Roberto Carballes Baena. This victory was the eighth straight win for the Greek tennis player.
