CASIO launches lightweight G-SHOCK, adding support for multiple sports

Tokio (ots/PRNewswire) Equipped with Polar™ training analysis algorithms

Casio Computer Co.,Ltd. today announced the release of a new addition to the sporty G-SQUAD line of shockproof G-SHOCK watches. The GBD-H2000 offers support for multiple sports and is lighter in weight for even more comfortable carrying. The new watch will be available in four models.

The impact-resistant GBD-H2000 is equipped with GPS functionality and six sensors to provide support for a wide range of sports, but is 38% lighter than its predecessor, the GBD-H1000. Casio has achieved the lower weight through a more compact case with an integrated GPS antenna and a carbon fiber reinforced case back. The result is an even more comfortable fit on the wrist. The new watch is equipped with GPS functionality and an optical heart rate sensor, as well as a compass, altitude/barometric pressure sensor, thermal sensor, accelerometer and gyroscope. These high-end technologies enable measurement of distance, speed, pace and more to support sports like running, cycling and swimming.

Along with these activity measurements are training analysis features included. Algorithms developed by Polar Electro Oy, an industry pioneer that has been perfecting the art of personalized fitness, sports and health advice for almost 50 years, are used to measure the load on the heart and lungs and that Analyze the ratio of energy consumed separately for carbohydrates, proteins and fats. Sleep monitoring can also be performed. By pairing the watch with the dedicated CASIO WATCHES app, users can view the watch’s workout data in more detail and access activity logs, sleep improvement tips, and more. To improve usability, a solar-assisted charging function is also included, enabling solar-powered timekeeping* even when the battery is dead.

The case, bezel and bracelet are made of bioplastic, an environmentally friendly material made from raw materials of castor beans and corn.
