Cases of domestic violence reduce in 2023 in Cunene – news

One hundred and 15 cases of domestic violence were registered in the year 2023, by the Office of Social Action, Family and Gender Equality in the province of Cunene, reported this Tuesday, in the city of Ondjiva, its director, Georgina Braga

Of the cases notified, 88 were resolved at the institution, 16 were sent to the Criminal Investigation Services, Attorney General’s Office and Cuanhama District Court and another 11 are pending.

By typicality, family abandonment stands out, with 66 occurrences, psychological violence, with 17, eight physical attacks, two cases of property violence and one verbal violence.

Speaking to ANGOP, Georgina Braga said that among the victims, 89 were women and 26 men, aged between 18 and 71 years.

Georgina Braga assured that her institution will continue to develop family counseling and education activities, involving churches, schools and women’s associations.
