The Urbanismo Social Foundation requested the initiation of a voluntary liquidation procedure for the company’s assets, declaring bankruptcy.
The application was submitted by architect Camila Ramírez, representing the foundation, on June 5 before the 22nd Civil Court of Santiago.
The Social Urbanism Foundation is one of the non-profit organizations involved in the Acuerdos Case.
The scandal, revealed in June 2023, led to changes in the implementation of public-private partnerships in the housing sector in particular.
The various fiscal bodies, mainly the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (Minvu), have therefore “virtually paralyzed their activities, generating inconsistencies in the responses of Serviu and Seremi, administrative silence, and the paralysis of the review of monthly returns,” the legal action states.
According to CNN Chile, the document with which the action was filed also indicates that, instead of evaluating its administrative processes and responding in accordance with the signed agreements, “the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development and other State Administration bodies decided to terminate the agreements signed with the Social Urbanism Foundation.”
This early termination, the execution of which had not yet begun, deprived the organization of funds that had been programmed, forcing it in some cases to return the amounts received, Radio Biobío reported.
Among the affected agreements, one is mentioned with the Municipality of Santiago, dated July 3, 2023, for the sum of $121,922,433, to carry out the project “Architectural design and rehabilitation specialties of Avenida Portales”, an amount that was not received by the foundation.
