The Casablanca Stock Exchange ended the week from February 21 to 25, 2022 in sharp decline, its main index, the Masi, yielding 3.95% to 13,175.30 points.
The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20), which reflects the price performance of the 20 most liquid companies, dropped 4.54% to 1,061.94 points and the Casablanca ESG 10, the Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) benchmark index. , lost 3.88% to 983.61 points.
Thursday, the Casablanca Stock Exchange was in very sharp decline in the wake of global financial markets once morest the backdrop of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The Masi had thus fallen by 4.11% at the close, recording its worst session since March 2020.
During this week, 20 sectors of the 23 represented on the Casablanca coast finished in the red, once morest only 2 on the rise. The utilities index showed no change following the suspension of trading of the equity securities of its sole representative, Lydec.
The Engineering and Industrial Capital Goods index posted the largest decline over the period (-10.72%), followed by the Distributors sector (-7.60%) and the Hardware, Software and IT Services sector. (-7.46%).
The building and construction materials sector lost 6.37% and that of leisure and hotels fell by 6.14%.
As for the winners, the Beverages index ended with a gain of 0.90%, ahead of that of Real Estate Investment Companies (+0.03%).
In the process, the overall volume of trade exceeded 1.31 billion dirhams (MMDH), including more than 1.29 billion MAD on the Central Market (equities).
With a transaction volume of more than 308.89 million dirhams (MDH), Attijariwafa Bank was the most active instrument of the week, capturing 23.91% of transactions, followed by Itissalat Al-Maghrib with 122.01 MDH (9.44%) and Alliances with 117.25 MDH (9.08%).
Market capitalization stood at more than 686 billion dirhams.
At the end of this week, Delattre Levivier Maroc (-14.52%), Stokvis Nord Afrique (-9.90%), HPS (-9.49%), Auto Hall (-9.09%) and Cartier Saada ( -9%) showed the biggest declines.
On the other hand, Alliances, Oulmès, Zellidja SA, Unimer and Agma posted the highest increases with respectively +13.43%, +11.40%, +4.71%, +3.55% and +3.15% .
