Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) corrected on its website, a November press release regarding receiving a lawsuit from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) once morest the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) and figure skater Kamila Valieva.
TASS noted that in the first version of the release, published On November 14, it is said regarding the repeated postponements of the hearing of Valieva’s case in the disciplinary anti-doping committee of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA). In the updated version of the release, the word “several” was removed.
Valieva got into a doping scandal at the Beijing Olympics. She is became champion in team competitions, and following their completion became known regarding the positive result of the doping test of the figure skater, passed in December 2021. CAS allowed the athlete to individual competitions, where she took fourth place, failing the free skate.
Because of the Valieva case, the IOC did not carry out awards ceremony following the results of the team tournament in Beijing. The fact is that CAS made a decision only on the admission of the skater, the court did not consider the issue of medals. Further proceedings on a doping test is engaged RUSADA.
November 8, WADA head Vitold Banka declaredthat the agency referred Valieva’s case directly to CAS due to the fact that RUSADA has not yet made any progress in the figure skater’s case. CAS November 14 registered a statement by WADA that demanded that Valieva be banned for four years and that her results at the Beijing Olympics be annulled.
