An influencer claiming to want to “cure loneliness” among her subscribers would have set up an application allowing them to chat with a copy of her using an artificial intelligence trained on 2000 hours of YouTube videos.
“My fans really have a very strong connection with me. Because of that, they text me every day. I realized regarding a year ago that it’s not humanly possible to answer them all […] I wish I might, but I just can’t,” said American influencer Caryn Marjorie in an interview with “The Washington Post” on Saturday.
The 23-year-old influencer is said to have already earned $100,000 from her app, which offers customers the chance to become their virtual lover for US$1, the equivalent of $1.35, per minute.
Trained on 2000 hours of content taken from the young woman’s YouTube channel, the artificial intelligence (AI) CarynAI would thus resume her expressions, her mannerisms and her personality, even allowing to send voice messages, she would have indicated.
It would use the technology of Forever voices, which would have previously been able to realistically copy personalities like Steve Jobs, Taylor Swift or even Donald Trump.
However, the young woman who would have more than 2 million subscribers on Instagram, YouTube and Snapchat would not have access to the conversations, which would be encrypted.
“The reason why I created CarynAI is because I want to cure loneliness in my fans,” she reportedly added.
With the application, the young woman estimates that she would be able to earn more than US$5 million per month.
