Jaime Gallegos, general manager of the Municipal Market Company SA (Emmsa), told Trade that at the moment there is no shortage in the Great Wholesale Market of Lima, so merchants should not fall into price speculation.
“The prices have not suffered a variation. The vast majority of our merchants stock up and fill their warehouses. That is why the impact of the unemployment. I urge local grocery stores to be fair and not speculate on prices”, he indicated.
However, he warned that yesterday there was a decrease in the number of products that enter the wholesale market daily. About three thousand tons less. “Every day an average of 7 thousand tons enters. Just yesterday it was reduced to almost 4 thousand tons. But, with this stock it is more than enough to supply the market”, he detailed.
Meanwhile, to continue the carriers With the force measure, Gallegos calculated that between three to four days, that is to say the next weekend, a variation in the prices of the products might be clearly noticed, mainly in those that come from the center of the country, such as the potato. “We hope that, by the weekend, the Government and the protesters can reach an agreement and the unemployment. The biggest losers are the producers. Much of the stranded merchandise is perishable“, he pointed.

The National Police reported that they managed to intervene a driver moments following he ran over a person, in the district of Pilcomayo (Huancayo, Junín). The Union of Multimodal Transport Unions announced that they will stop their work on April 4 and 5.
