Carrick Swan Club Wraps Up Successful Year, Looks Ahead to 2025
The Carrick Swan Club recently wrapped up another successful year, marked by achievements both on and off the field. As training and playing activities concluded for the season, the club extended its gratitude to players, coaches, and dedicated volunteers for their unwavering dedication throughout 2024.
"We can’t wait to see everyone back in action in 2025—and for many more years to come," remarked a club spokesman. "Here’s to continued growth, teamwork, camaraderie, and hopefully success."
The club’s annual general meeting has been scheduled for Friday, January 10, 2025, offering an opportunity for devoted members to contribute to the shaping of the club’s future direction. As for the future, the club is actively seeking volunteers to contribute to its running.
"Volunteering with Carrick Swan is a rewarding way to connect, grow skills, and support the club," remarked the spokesperson.

Young Players Stay Active During Winter Break
The club’s vibrant juveniles are keeping the sporting spirit alive during the winter break. Last weekend, the Under 10 girls enjoyed a blast from the past at Hotshots Bowling in Clonmel, while their Under 8 counterparts bounced their way into the holidays with an exciting day at World of Bounce.
Ahead of Christmas, more fun awaits the club’s young members. The Under 7 Cygnets have a special treat planned: a trip to the Carrick-on-Suir Fire Station for their Christmas evening out. Meanwhile, the Under 9 boys are gearing up for a PlayStation showdown at a FC25 tournament the club is organizing. The gaming will be followed by a feast of refreshments.
Carrick Swan extends congratulations to Charlie Torpey Walsh, who played midfield last week on the South Tipperary Under 13 Dom Browne Cupr winning team. South Tipp triumphed over Mid-Tipp in a hard-fought final.

Fundraising Underway
The club’s weekly Lotto continues to provide essential support, generating funds vital for maintaining and improving club facilities. Last week saw no jackpot winner, meaning this week’s prize pool reached €3,500. The draw takes place Thursday evenings. Tickets are just €2.
The club also announced the passing of former player Shamie Flynn, who contributed vitally to the club, wining back-to-back Senior South medals in both 1958 and 1959, and a Junior South title in
"We are deeply saddened by the passing of Shamie Flynn, a true Carrick Swan stalwart. Our thoughts are with his family here and abroad during this difficult time," the club said in a statement.
"We offer our deepest condolences to the family of Shamie, who remained a passionate supporter of the club even after emigrating in the late 1960s. Shamie will be deeply missed," they added.
The club will be remembering Shamie at a Mass to be celebrated in St Nicholas Church on December 7 at 7:30 pm.
