Pepsi, Lipton, Lay’s, Doritos, Benenuts, Quaker… These brands all belong to the American giant Pepsico and will soon disappear from the shelves of Carrefour stores in France. As BFMTV explainsthe brand has decided to stop selling products from the group’s brands in order to protest once morest a significant increase in prices.

Posters will be hung from this Thursday, January 4 in Carrefour stores to inform consumers. They indicate: “We no longer sell this brand due to unacceptable price increases. We apologize for the inconvenience. » The message is signed “Carrefour, committed to lowering prices”.

Negotiations must accelerate

This standoff comes at a time when major retail players are seeking to negotiate price reductions to mitigate the effects of inflation. The government has brought forward the deadline for annual negotiations and decisions will have to be taken with the food industry by the end of January, the objective being to pass on the price reductions to the shelves as quickly as possible.

“The deadline is shorter this year and we thought we would have a stronger mobilization,” declared the CEO of Système U, Dominique Schelcher, on BFMTV. Many industrialists went on vacation during the holidays and we didn’t see anyone. We were mobilized, things need to speed up. »
