For François Bélanger, one of the organizers of the event, it was necessary to celebrate this anniversary in the town of birth of Titeuf. “He is an extremely important character in comics. He was born in 1992 in Carouge, where Zep had his studio opposite the Jacques-Dalphin school. It was by listening to the voices of children from his window that he had the idea to develop this character first published in 1993.
Since then, millions of albums have been sold to millions of readers in more than 25 countries.” Titeuf has also been the subject of numerous adaptations in video games, cinema and television.
Festivities all over the city
Projections on the facades, exhibitions, signing sessions, drawing competitions, workshops for children in cinematographic dubbing and handling of the puppet or even “pancake-party” in the company of Zep and the designers of his magazine “Tchô”: the city of Carouge has not skimped on the activities, most of which are free.
Various places in the city host these activities, from the Carouge library to the theatre, the municipal inn, the Bio Cinema and even the Ibis Styles hotel.
The soul of Titeuf is in Carouge
Even today, Titeuf permeates the city of Carouge. “We saw it during the inauguration of the event with the large number of people who had come to see the illumination on the facade of the Cinéma Bio. There is also the statue of Titeuf which sits in the courtyard of the Jacques-Dalphin school. I invite visitors to rediscover it, because it will be illuminated during the event.”
If the first readers of Titeuf have grown up, the rascal with the blond lock still talks as much to the children, who came in large numbers at the inauguration of the party. “We feel that this comic crosses the ages, in particular by its way of approaching the problems of children, their vision of the world and the question of social relations”.
