The women’s bullet has offered a real star fall on the way to crowning a winner. First, the American Chase Ealey went out already in the qualifiers and it was followed up by Canada’s Sarah Mitton completely failing in the final and only getting three strokes.

It was won by Yemisi Ogunleye who with a shot of 20 meters exactly fixed the gold.

But in Max’s studio, the duo Jonas Karlsson and Carolina Klüft drew attention to how certain bumps in the final can break the rules.

Pointed out by Max – after the gold

When the shot putters start their kick, they may take support against the back edge of the ring, but not kick in from the foot. When they reviewed replays from the final in Max, they thought they saw Yemisi Ogunleye doing it (though not in what became the gold rush).

– You can see that the shoe is almost folding there. It feels like she’s pushing off the edge, says Klüft.

Jonas Karlsson fills in:

– So the rule says that you must not touch the ground, but there is an exception. If you touch without pushing from the top of the outer ring or the ground beyond, as long as it happens at the beginning of the rotation. The problem here is that the referee with the flag in hand is looking at the stop boards. He doesn’t watch what happens at the beginning at all, which is a big problem in this case.

Klüft believes that then it is not certain that the final went right.

– Because then we can’t possibly catch things like this. Then we could potentially have a foul in this final.

That’s how it went for the Swedes

The final’s two Swedes, Fanny Roos and Axelina Johansson, finished seventh and tenth respectively.

– If the judge thinks it was okay, it probably was, says Roos when she sees the pictures of Ogunleye.

She gets approval from Johansson.

– The judge thinks it was okay and I think so.

– No, I don’t think anyone does it on purpose. Ryan Crouser is hovering his foot up there too… I don’t know… no comment.
