Carole Samaha about her controversial membership in the Musicians Syndicate: “I am Egyptian”

The Lebanese singer, Carole Samaha, revealed her surprise at the attack campaign once morest her following obtaining membership in the Egyptian Musical Professions Syndicate, stressing that she had become an “Egyptian” and had the right to obtain membership in the syndicate, and indicated that she had received congratulations from a large number of art stars in Egypt.

Carole explained the details of obtaining membership in the Egyptian Musical Professions Syndicate, and said, through a phone call to one of the programs, that she was surprised by the attack on her because of this matter, explaining that she became Egyptian, as she obtained citizenship 4 years ago.

She indicated that she is married to an Egyptian (Walid Mustafa), pointing out that she had roots and a family in Egypt, so it was natural for her to seek membership in the Syndicate of Musical Professions.

The Syndicate of Musical Professions in Egypt intervened to clarify the controversy over granting working membership to Carole, despite the fact that the law limits membership to Egyptians only, and the Syndicate’s official spokesman issued an official statement confirming that all membership conditions apply to Carole Samaha, following obtaining the Egyptian nationality four years ago.

And the Musicians Syndicate announced during a press statement that there is a prerequisite for obtaining membership in the Syndicate of Musical Professions, the most important of which is that the applicant be of Egyptian nationality, and Carole Samaha is of Lebanese nationality, and she acquired Egyptian nationality through her marriage to an Egyptian citizen, Dr. Walid Mustafa.

Article No. 6 of the Law of the Federation of the Three Technical Syndicates stipulates the conditions for working membership, which are:

1- To have the nationality of the Arab Republic of Egypt or a foreigner authorized to reside in Egypt for at least five years, on the condition of reciprocity.

2- He must have full civil capacity.

3- He should be of good conduct and good reputation.

4- He should not have been convicted of a criminal penalty or a crime involving breach of honor or trust, unless he has been rehabilitated in both cases.

5- To have obtained an educational certificate from one of the specialized technical colleges or institutes, whether Egyptian or foreign, approved by the registration committee in the general list of the union, or to have reached a degree of culture and competence approved by the aforementioned registration committee in accordance with the internal regulations of the union.

6- To be engaged in theatre, cinema or music, as stipulated in Article (2) of this law.
