Carole King actress found for biopic “Beautiful”.

The British newcomer Daisy Edgar-Jones, who played the wild heroine Kya in the novel adaptation “The Song of the Crayfish”, will embody the US singer Carole King. The 24-year-old was awarded the lead role in the planned biopic “Beautiful”, as reported by the US industry journals “Variety” and “Hollywood Reporter” on Thursday (local time). It is the film version of the Broadway musical “Beautiful – The Carole King Musical” regarding the life of the singer.

“Daisy has the spirit and energy I recognized as a young person,” King, 80, was quoted as saying in a statement regarding the cast. The actress has “tremendous talent” and will give a “great performance”. Edgar-Jones, also known for the TV mini-series “Normal People” regarding teenage love, linked the reports on her Instagram account. Lisa Cholodenko (“The Kids Are All Right”) is on board with the project as a director.

Studio Sony has secured the rights to use Kings Hits. The musical features songs such as “One Fine Day”, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, “I Feel the Earth Move” and “You’ve Got a Friend”. King rose to fame in her late 20s with her hit album Tapestry in 1971. The mother of three has had an eventful music career.
