The motives behind this triple murder remain unknown while the suspect has no criminal record. The parents of the accused being separated, we also do not know why the family was together at the time of the tragedy.

The accused would have already been followed for mental health problems, according to our information. A social worker visited him regularly.

Friends testify regarding problems

According to the relatives of the young man, these problems would have started to appear quite early.

“When we played hockey together, around 16, he sometimes left games earlier [parce qu’il était en crise]. He was going so far as to pull his hair … And I know that the last two years have not been easy for him, ”said his former hockey comrade, Mathis Marchand-Roy.

Another of his friends, Ludovic Lachapelle, has noticed that his friend has been isolating himself in recent months, calling him “more lonely”.

“In life, he is a very calm and gentle person, but those around him know that he has had mental health problems since he was young. He was taking medication. Lately, he was not doing so well”, he confided, even if in a video published by Arthur Galarneau on Instagram, the latter claimed that he was starting to “be happy”.

Arthur Galarneau will be back in court on April 11.
