Sansores: A year to make Mexico dream at the Olympic Games

Carlos Sansores arrived at the Olympic Games in Tokio 2020 as current world runner-up in the +87 kg category and bronze at the Lima 2019 Pan American Games, but was surprised in his first fight by the Croatian Ivan Sapina.

“I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart for not having obtained the expected result,” the Mexican taekwondo athlete posted on his social media.

“Everyone who knows me knows that I always give my all in the arena. It wasn’t my day,” he continued. “However, I promise to never give up and to continue giving good joy to the people who always send me their best vibes,” he promised.

And he delivered. Because in 2022 he was proclaimed world champion in Guadalajara, an event in which Mexican taekwondo touched the sky and in 2023, although he could not defend his crown, he did win the silver medal.

“Win or lose, I always do things with my heart,” said the Mexican after climbing onto the second step of the podium.

She then repeated her silver medal at the Central American and Caribbean Games, won bronze at the French Grand Prix, and returned to gold at the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. Successes that make Mexico dream of Paris 2024.

“Remember that the passion with which you do things will make you understand that the limits are mental,” Sansores had said before declaring himself Pan American Champion +80 kg.
