Carlos Sainz suffers from appendicitis and that will leave him out of the 2024 Saudi Arabia GP race, because he underwent surgery to treat said discomfort.

The Spaniard had already warned that he did the free practices without being fully recovered, but he was optimistic regarding it.

“Although I mightn’t go to the limit, at least we completed the program; So I hope he is fully recovered so we can focus on qualifying and the race,” he commented following having recognized the Saudi Arabia route.

What happened to Carlos Sainz?

According to Spanish media, the Ferrari driver suffered from a high fever and an upset stomach, although he was able to attend the first day of free practice, which indicated that the medications were taking effect. However, the same sources report that on the night from Thursday to Friday, the fever did not go down and he visited the hospital to find out the reason.

After the studies, the diagnosis was food poisoning and appendicitis. For this reason, the Iberian was immediately intervened. The ‘Il Cavallino Rampante’ team reported that the procedure had been a success through an internal communication with the media that cover Formula 1.

“He went well in all aspects and is now resting in the hospital,” Ferrari posted.
