Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Racer Carlos Sainz Jr emerged as the winner of the Formula 1 (F1) Mexican GP at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, Monday (28/10) morning WIB.
Sainz finished at the front in the race which lasted 71 laps. He was on the podium with Lando Norris who finished as runner up and Charles Leclerc in third place.
Sainz was already leading the race after passing Max Verstappen at the first corner of the ninth lap.
After Sainz took the lead, Verstappen was involved in competition with Norris two laps later. Both of them are fighting for second place.
This fierce competition made Norris leave the track. The race supervisor then gave Verstappen a 2×10 second penalty for this incident.
The Dutch racer received a penalty because he was deemed to have carried out a dangerous action while competing with Norris.
The penalty made Verstappen’s position difficult. In the end, the defending champion could only finish in sixth position.
Norris achieved much better results than Verstappen. His hard work allowed Norris to finish in second place because Leclerc went wide.
However, Leclerc still got on the podium by finishing third at the F1 Mexican GP.
