Carl I. Hagen on Tybring-Gjedde’s exclusion: – Unwise of the party

Former Frp leader Carl I. Hagen says in an interview with Klassekampen that he believes this was unwise of the party.

– He said something that was also unwise, but there should be a high ceiling in the Frp. Tybring-Gjedde’s statement is not grounds for exclusion, says Hagen.

– The statements were serious enough

Leader of the nomination committee Arve Lønnum in the FRP agrees that the party should have a high ceiling.

– But Carl Ivar should be the first to confirm that he has had to take some heavy measures sometimes. No one thinks this is pleasant.

This was not the first time Tybring-Gjedde received criticism from the party. In 2021, he received a warning following offering a woman wearing a hijab a thousand pounds if she took it off.

He goes on to say that although he was well aware of Tybring-Gjedde’s history, he did not depend on this to send the encouragement to the organizational committee.

– The statements in the nomination process were serious enough.

Almost 19 years in the Storting

It was on Sunday evening that the organization committee in the FRP decided to exclude Tybring-Gjedde from the party following 18 and a half years in the Storting.

It was following he stated to TV 2 that the nomination committee’s proposal for Tor Mikkel Wara and Simen Velle as top of the list for next year’s parliamentary election was a commissioned work and political corruption.

Tybring-Gjedde announced in April that he did not want to continue when his last parliamentary term expires in 2025 and announced Aina Stenersen as his successor.

He has since stated to NRK that he will not appeal the decision.

– A party that is not democratic also on the inside is unsuitable for defending democracy in the Storting.
