Carinthia State Studio’s latest “Austrian Experience”, “Hiking Paradise Saualm – Nature and Culture Every Step,” is dedicated to Saualm, a place famous for its gentle alpine pastures, pristine forests and unspoilt nature. The documentary will air on ORF 2 on Sunday, August 18 at 4:30 pm.
Saualm is one of the most beautiful and natural regions in southeastern Austria. The gentle mountain ridge stretches from Klippitztörl to Drau, offering more than 100 kilometers of marked hiking trails, rustic alpine huts and incredible Carinthia scenery. The terrain here is gentle with no steep slopes. Hiking along the ridge at an altitude of 2,000 meters allows you to experience diverse flora and fauna. There are also many well-managed alpine huts where you can enjoy unspoiled nature away from mass tourism. But the people who live and work here are also special. They maintain a unique cultural landscape and maintain alpine pastures under challenging conditions.
