Say “stop” to your child rather than “no”. Avoid frowning in front of your child when you are upset by his behavior, or divert his attention rather than forbidding him to make a gesture. These are some principles that can be read in books on positive parenting, a trend that is gaining popularity, but whose premises have, for the most part, not been scientifically proven.

Marine Corniou, deputy editor-in-chief at Québec Science has looked into this trend and published a very interesting article (New window) in the March issue of the journal Québec Science.
