Caribes de Anzoátegui completed their second consecutive sweep at the Alfonso “chico” Carrasquel stadium in Puerto La Cruz, after dispatching Cardenales de Lara this Wednesday with a score of 8-5.

The Tribe now has four wins in a row in the 2024/2025 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) and remains undefeated at home after successfully overcoming the series against Bravos de Margarita and the Red Birds.

Timely batting

Center fielder Herlis Rodríguez once again was key in the offensive phase. “El gocho” hit a home run for the second night in a row, this time with a couple of teammates in circulation, to make the duel 3-1 in the third chapter.

The visitor responded to the blow with three scores in the fourth act, but those led by Morgan Ensberg returned it with four points in the loss of that episode.

Ricardo Genovés and Andruw Monasterio were the spark plugs in that inning, as they drove in two runs each to put the shares at 7-4 and keep the balance in favor of the locals.

The twilights scored with a solo home run by Pedro Castellanos in the top of the fifth inning, while Genovés hit one more in the sixth to put definitive numbers to the challenge.

Herlis Rodríguez, who has three home runs in the last four games, went 1 for 5 with one run scored and three hits. Genovés closed 2-for-4 with runs scored and three RBIs, while Monasterio finished 1-for-4 with runs scored and two RBIs.

Richard Guasch scored the victory (2-0), while Fabián Blanco took the loss (0-1). Gabriel Yánez got his first saved game of the contest.

Classification

Caribes tied for fifth place in the standings with Águilas del Zulia. Both have a record of five wins and five setbacks, while Lara is now sixth with (4-6).

The Anzoatiguense currency will now face a series of two games against Tigres de Aragua, in what will be a fight to climb positions in the qualifying table, since the Bengalis are third with 6-3.
