Baseball 123″>Caribes de Anzoátegui extended the great moment it is experiencing in the young 2024/2025 season of the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League (LVBP) by beating Tigres de Aragua with a score of 10-8.

Despite the hesitation of their relief in the final third of the challenge played on Thursday night, the aborigines managed to maintain their undefeated record at the Alfonso “chico” Carrasquel stadium in Puerto La Cruz, where they have won five in a row.

Once again, timely hitting was key to achieving victory, in a duel that also started an hour late (8:05 pm) due to electrical problems. Andruw Monasterio and Willians Astudillo carried the offensive weight of La Tribu, which will face the Bengalis again on Friday.

Offensive fight

Caribes and Tigres came into the match as two of the three best offensive teams so far in the championship and they demonstrated that on the Portocruz diamond. The commitment had a total of 24 hits and 18 runs.

The Aragonese troop started the party in the first episode with two scores against the aboriginal starter Emerson Martinez. The Indigenous Machinery responded with a little line at the bottom of that inning, but at the top of the second act the visitor made one more for the partial 3-1.

The Orientals did not allow themselves to be intimidated and ambushed Cuban pitcher Yoanner Negrín, to whom they made four runs to turn the match 5-3. Andruw Monasterio drove in one with a line drive to center field, Herlis Rodríguez another with a sacrifice fly and Willians Astudillo two more with a double to the right field.

More notes

From there there were two innings of truce, but the visitor attacked again in the fifth chapter with a little line. The locals responded in the sixth inning with two runs, thanks to a Monasterio tubey.

Aragua scored with one more in the seventh, but the indigenous team was strengthened by solo home runs by Luis Sardiñas and Wilmer Pérez to put the shares at 9-5.

In the eighth inning, the Rayados made their sixth run and the Anzoatiguenses hit back with Willians Astudillo’s homer into the left field for a 10-6 lead.

Manuel Cachutt came in to close the ninth inning, but those led by Welby “Buddy” Bailey took advantage of his lack of control to make two runs. With the tying ball in circulation, manager Morgan Ensberg gave the ball to Andrés Sotillet, who struck out pinch-hitter Edwin García to end the matchup.

Classification

With the triumph, Caribes leaves its record at six conquests and five setbacks. Now he is fourth alone in the LVBP qualifying table and on Friday he will seek to snatch third place from the Tigres (6-4).
