USC‘s quarterback, Caleb Williams is the projected number one overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. And the Cardinals are heavy favorites to end up with that exact pick.

The Cardinals came into the 2023 season as the odds-on favorite to finish with the worst record in the NFL. After losing their first two games, those odds have only been strengthenedalthough the team has been surprisingly competitive once morest the Washington Commanders and New York Giants.
Helping their chances even more is the fact that they also own the Houston Texans’ first round pick in 2024. The Texans are 0-2 like the Cardinals and haven’t shown many signs of improvement over the team that ended up with the second overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft.
Heisman Redux?
After winning the Heisman Trophy following the 2022 college football season, Williams is off to an equally impressive start this year. Through three games, he has completed 78.6% of his passes for 878 yards and 12 touchdownswhile adding 61 yards and a touchdown on the ground.
Williams’ only real competition to be the number one overall pick in 2024 is UNC‘s Drake Mayebut the North Carolina quarterback is off to a shaky start this season.
The Cardinals should feel optimistic regarding their chances of getting Williams next April. That is, of course, unless Williams passes on the opportunity and stays another year at USC.
