Carcassonne: DR Kfé is getting a makeover for its grand opening night

It is in the commercial area of Salvaza, at 665 avenue Paul Henri Mouton, that David Randy’s dance bar stands. It is preparing for its reopening party on September 3.

It is not the coffee doctor, but the David Randy Café which opens its doors to us today. “After all, we may be curing people”, jokes the manager. Having replaced Le Suprême two and a half years ago, it was a real obstacle course for this dance bar, yet so recent. Inaugurated on March 14, 2020, a date that still raises eyebrows, it had to close immediately following the announcement of the closure of non-essential businesses due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The bar was inaugurated and then we had to get everyone out at midnight the same night for three months”, explains David. This is followed by a reopening in June with a clientele at the rendezvous before closing once more for six months. Despite everything, David keeps his smile and his good mood “We had a prolific start and a friendly clientele, with whom we have never had a problem”he confides.

David Randy, a household name in the department

Although he is from Picardy, and has worked for many years in Paris, David left the North of France to settle in Carcassonne in 2010. A DJ for thirty years, he has not really started in bars and nightclubs in the Aude but behind the stoves of a bakery in Limoux. One thing led to another, he met people and shared his passion and talent for music and mixing desks, then traveled all over the region to put on a show.

The dance bar gets a makeover

Today the DR Kfé is temporarily closed, allowing David, with the help of his partner, to completely redo the interior for its reopening on Saturday, September 3. Instead of white walls, you will now feel like you are in a parallel dimension. Alex Reeds can leave the city at the ramparts and head to a beach hut on Copacabana Beach to dance to reggaeton. You can find the usual burgers and tapas there with a novelty this year: vegetable sandwiches with the possibility of adding meat. All homemade by a cook. “The good thing is that at the start of the evening people are total strangers, then at closing time it seems that everyone knows each other”rejoices the DJ.

The establishment will open its doors as before, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. A way to rediscover the friendly spirit of this place with future themed evenings already planned.
