A 103-year-old Italian driver in the province of Ferrara in the Emilia-Romagna region was fined for driving with an expired driver’s license and without insurance. On Monday, the woman, who was born in 1920, was stopped by the carabinieri in the municipality of Bondeno around 1 a.m. while she said she was on her way to visit friends.
The carabinieri were alerted by a witness who saw the woman’s car moving in dangerous circles, the Italian news agency ANSA reported. According to police, the woman was disoriented and kept driving through the same streets. The investigation revealed that her driver’s license had expired for two years.
The 103-year-old was fined according to the road traffic regulations and her vehicle was picked up by a tow truck. Finally she was escorted home by the Carabinieri.
