Car takes flight and crashes into sports hall, causing spectacular accident in Flémalle!

Two separate accidents occurred on Thursday evening in the Flémalle area. The first accident was particularly shocking as a vehicle traveling along the quays of the Meuse towards Flémalle, hit an obstacle and crashed into a sports hall called Louis Melin. Although the exact circumstances leading to the accident are yet to be established, witnesses reported that the vehicle was speeding well beyond the 90 km/h limit set for the road. The driver was the only person involved in the accident and was taken out with a vital prognosis. Firefighters from Liège quickly arrived to take care of the situation.

Shortly before this, another accident occurred in the same area. This accident happened on the E 42, in which a van registered in Poland crashed into a truck that was signaling work on the highway. The driver sustained minor injuries but required extrication before being taken care of by emergency services. This accident caused significant traffic congestion on the E 42.

Two accidents occurred this Thursday at the end of the day on the Flémalle entity… including one at the start of the evening, which was particularly impressive.

A vehicle which was traveling along the quays of the Meuse, near Flémalle in the direction of Liège towards Flémalle, indeed hit an obstacle… and ended its race in a sports hall. In this case, the Louis Melin sports hall, located at the entrance to the town of Flémalle, at the intersection of quai Destrée and rue du Passeur d’eau.

If the exact circumstances of the accident have yet to be established, witnesses to the scene mentioned a car traveling on the platform at a relatively high speed… much more than the limit set at 90 km / h on this axis. Some even mention the speed of 200 km/h…

Arriving at the roundregarding, he therefore hit the edge of the latter which would have caused the “take-off” … and the landing in the sports hall. As we can see in the first images, the edge of the roundregarding would have literally served as a springboard, throwing the vehicle into the air at an impressive speed.

The Liège firefighters were notified and quickly intervened to take care of the driver, the only one involved and the only one injured. The latter was taken out of the vehicle with a vital prognosis.

Another accident on the E 42

Shortly before this fact, another accident occurred in the entity of Flémalle… with less serious consequences, however, since the driver would only be slightly injured. It was while driving on the E 42 motorway near Flémalle that a vehicle, a van registered in Poland, would not have seen the truck signaling work. Truck he rammed. The driver was quickly taken care of by the emergency services, an extrication was necessary. This accident caused large queues on the E 42.

In summary, two accidents occurred in Flémalle on Thursday evening, with one particularly impressive collision resulting in a car landing in a local sports hall. While the exact circumstances are yet to be established, witnesses reported the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, possibly exceeding 200 km/h, when it hit the edge of a roundregarding, causing the car to take off into the air before landing in the sports hall. The driver, the only one involved, was the sole casualty of the accident. Additionally, a van collided with a truck on the E 42 motorway near Flémalle, causing minor injuries but resulting in major traffic delays.
