[Lutte contre le paludisme] Installation of the spreader mounted on a car in the town of Matoury
As part of the fight once morest malaria and because of the recent census in Matoury of cases of Plasmodium falciparum malaria (the species responsible for the most serious forms), the Territorial Collectivity of Guyana (CTG), in conjunction with the Marie de Matoury and the ARS Guyana, inform the population of the establishment of rotations of the “car-mounted spreader” in the municipality.
In order to fight once morest the spread of this vector-borne disease, teams from the CTG Mosquito Control Service are already mobilized in the active traffic area where the car-mounted spreader will pass.
The passage time slots are as follows: in the morning between 4:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. and/or in the evening between 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., weeks 27 and 28 of the year 2023.
The sectors and timetables for the “spreader” will be available for consultation on the website of the Territorial Collectivity of French Guiana: www.ctguyane.fr as well as from the town hall of the commune of Matoury and from ARS Guyane.
These calendars are distributed on a provisional basis and may be subject to modifications (cancellations and others) for technical reasons. In the case of a cancellation due to rain, the passage will be renewed the next day at the same time.
The public, and especially children, are asked to avoid exposure when the “car-mounted spreader” passes.
In the event of suspected poisoning linked to the product used by the spreader, ARS Guyana recommends contacting the doctor at the poison control and toxicovigilance center (CAP-TV) in Ile-de-France, who answers questions 7 days a week. and 24 hours a day, at 01-40-05-48-48.
The Territorial Collectivity of French Guiana, in conjunction with the Mairie de Matoury and the ARS, wishes, in this context, to recall the measures to be adopted to avoid bites from mosquitoes infected with the malaria parasite:
➢ Clothing
• Wear clothing that minimizes skin exposure (long sleeves, pants) at dusk and in the evening when Anopheles is most active;
• Wear light-colored clothing because Anopheles is more attracted to dark colors
➢ Home Installations
• Mosquito nets on windows and doors;
• Curtains treated with insecticide;
• The use of fans
• The air conditioning
• Close doors and windows early enough in the followingnoon
• Sleep under a mosquito net
• Place mosquito traps outdoors and indoors
