On the evening of July 21 in Hall in Tirol (Innsbruck-Land district), the police caught a 40-year-old German car driver with nine kilograms of cocaine hidden in the car during a check. A total of nine packages, each containing around 1,000 grams of the drug, were found, the executive said on Wednesday. According to the head of the Tyrolean State Criminal Police Office, Katja Tersch, it was the second largest cocaine discovery in Tyrol.

Only once have you been able to confiscate more of the drug – just over ten kilograms. The street value was around 900,000 euros. The driver was arrested and cocaine and the vehicle were seized.

Investigations into the exact background were underway. At first it was unclear where the cocaine came from and who it was intended for. The accused was silent at times. He has since been placed in pre-trial detention, it said.

Before the drug was found, “disagreements” arose during the control, as the police put it. The unemployed German might not produce a driver’s license and was not the registered owner of the vehicle. A drug-sniffing dog finally sniffed out the cocaine, which led to a more intensive search of the car and ultimately to the find.
