Car crashed into tree and burned out, two teenagers dead

According to police, the car went off the road and caught fire following the collision. A 15-year-old and a 22-year-old died in the accident.

Two young car occupants died in the early hours of Sunday morning in Scheibbs. According to the executive, the car left the Hochweinberg municipal road at around 4:30 a.m. for an unknown reason and crashed head-on into a tree. The car should have gone up in flames immediately, the vehicle burned out. For a 15-year-old and a 22-year-old from the Scheibbs district, any help came too late, the police said in a broadcast.

Residents were awakened by the bang caused by the impact and immediately set the rescue chain in motion, reported the Lower Austria State Police Directorate. The fire brigade moved out quickly, the district command said on request.

When officers arrived, they found that there were two occupants in the vehicle. The fire brigade carried out the extinguishing and rescue work. The emergency doctor might only determine the death of the two inmates, the executive said. Forces from the State Criminal Police Office were also deployed to secure traces for identity verification.
