According to investigators, a 49-year-old individual entrepreneur from Kaluga, in a state of drug intoxication, knocked down people at the intersection of Kirov and Ryleeva streets. Several people, including minors, received various injuries.
The driver was detained as a suspect under paragraph “c” of part two of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation – “Violation of traffic rules and the operation of vehicles, which negligently caused serious harm to human health.” He faces up to seven years in prison.
During the interrogation, the man confessed, denying only the use of drugs. However, the presence of prohibited substances was confirmed by a medical examination.
The investigation plans to apply to the court with a request to place the suspect in custody. Fontanka previously showed footage of the accident. The driver was reported to have had his driver’s license revoked in the past.

According to Kuznetsov, two teenagers born in 2006 and 2007 were diagnosed with severe concomitant injuries, including fractures of the limbs. One was successfully operated on, the second is still in the operating room at the time of publication. Another child, born in 2019, is in a state of moderate severity. Of the six injured adults, four are in serious condition.
