Emergency doctors, rescue workers, police and fire departments were on duty in Au an der Donau (Perg district) on Wednesday around lunchtime: a car and a truck with a partially extended hook crane collided at an intersection on the L1422 around 11:20 a.m. The 48-year-old truck driver from the Freistadt district may have overlooked the red Skoda as he pushed it back onto the state road.
The collision was so violent that the 60-year-old woman was trapped in the passenger seat of the car, which was completely deformed. Emergency services from four fire departments freed the seriously injured woman from the wreckage. She was treated by the emergency doctor and taken to the LKH Amstetten.
The driver of the car, a 64-year-old from the Amstetten district, was able to free himself from the vehicle. He was also so seriously injured that he had to be treated in the hospital. The truck driver probably survived the accident without any major injuries, the police said in the evening.
The L1422 in the area of the accident site was closed for a good hour for the rescue and clean-up work and the accident recording, and a local diversion was set up. The Au an der Donau, Haid, Schwertberg and Aisting-Furth fire departments were deployed with around 30 men.
