This Wednesday morning a car bomb was detonated near a Police station in the Colombian department of Cauca, in the southwest of the country, causing the death of two people.

The incident was recorded in the town of Timba, located in the municipality of Buenos Aires of the entity, at 07:15 in the morning [hora local].

The Police reported that the car bomb was detected approximately 50 meters from the station; In addition to the fatalities, two other people were injured.

In addition to the damage to the infrastructure of the Police office, the explosion affected a school, a hospital, some workshops and homes in the area.

At the moment, it is unknown which group was behind the attack. The governor of Cauca, Elías Larrahondo, declared to Caracol that the guerrilla of the National Liberation Army (ELN) and the Jaime Martínez front, a dissident of the extinct Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (Farc), have a presence in the area.
