Capitol Rebellion; ‘Trump himself is the planner’, a blow to the desire to become president again

Washington: Former President Donald Trump is the mastermind of the Capitol riots, US says. Final Report of the Committee Appointed by the Parliament, Congress. The main finding of the report is that Trump did not try to dissuade his supporters from attacking the Capitol and that he was complicit in the conspiracy. The recommendations given in the report also state that Donald Trump should not be allowed to hold public office so that such an incident does not happen again. The report is a heavy blow to Trump, who has announced his candidacy in the upcoming elections.

The investigative committee’s recommendations call for legislation to bar Trump and his supporters from holding public office, including federal, state and military, and reforming election laws.

After an 18-month-long investigation, the nine-member committee submitted its eight-chapter final report. The 814-page report was published on Thursday after hearing more than 1,000 witnesses and completing about 10 hearings. Among these are those who directly participated in the riots and those who are closely related to Trump.

The committee concluded that the riots challenged American democracy and threatened the lives of representatives of the people. Last week, the committee said it would recommend that the Justice Department file three criminal charges against Trump, including solicitation of art, conspiracy and obstruction of official duties. When Joe Biden took over as president on January 6, 2021, Trump supporters who did not accept the election defeat stormed the administration center and attacked.

Five people were killed in the riots. Democrats see the attack on the Capitol as a dark day in the history of American democracy.
