FORMER employees of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) who filed a judicial review regarding the age requirements for KPK leaders asked the Constitutional Court (MK) to issue a dismissal or interim decision. The reason is, the registration of KPK leadership candidates (capim) for the 2024-2029 period was closed on Monday (15/7).

Dozens of former employees who are members of the IM57+ Institute intend to register as KPK capim, but are stuck with the minimum age requirement, which is 50 years old. The judicial review they submitted is related to Article 29 letter e of Law Number 19/2019 concerning the KPK.

“We have already submitted an interim decision so that the applicants who are currently applying can be given the opportunity to continue to follow the ongoing selection process. Because we have submitted (the application) since May,” said IM57+ Chairman Praswad Nugraha at the Constitutional Court Building, Jakarta, Monday (22/7).

The applicants filed a lawsuit with the Constitutional Court since the end of May 2024. However, the Constitutional Court was only able to hear the case today for the first time because previously it was still busy completing the trial of the dispute over the results of the 2024 Legislative Election (Pileg).

The 12 applicants are Novel Baswedan, Mochamad Praswad Nugraha, Harun Al Rasyid, Budi Agung Nugroho, Andre Dedy Nainggolan, Herbert Nababan, Andi Abd Rachman Rachim, Rizka Anungnata, Juliandi Tigor Simanjuntak, March Falentino, Farid Andhika, and Waldy Gagantika.

In their application, they requested that the MK change the norms of Article 29 letter e of the KPK Law to be at least 50 years old or experienced as a KPK leader or at least 40 years of experience with at least 5 years of experience as a KPK officer and at most 65 years old.

Registration for the 2024-2029 KPK leadership candidates has been closed since last week since it was opened on June 26, 2024. Deputy Chairman of the KPK Selection Committee Arif Satria said that the total number of KPK leadership candidates registered reached 318 people. Of that number, 298 of them are men, while the other 20 are women. (Z-8)
