Capiaçú pasture resists floods in Ñeembucú and gives hope to livestock producers

Asunción, IP Agency.- Capiaçú grass demonstrated remarkable resistance to water and provides hope to livestock producers in the region. In the midst of the floods that hit the Department of Ñeembucú, encouraging news emerges for the population with resilient grass.

The producers explained that the flood had a minimal impact on the development of capiaçú. Unlike other varieties of grass that succumbed to excess water, capiaçú remained firm, retaining its vigor and productive potential, which represents a benefit for ranchers.

This characteristic of capiaçú allows it to have a reliable food source, even in adverse weather conditions. The ability of grass to be consumed directly by animals without the need for a forage chopper significantly reduces production costs.

Boost to livestock in Ñeembucú

The Government of Ñeembucú distributed capiaçú seeds in 16 districts of the department, benefiting 62 producer organizations and educational institutions related to agriculture. This initiative seeks to boost livestock production in the region and provide producers with an alternative resistant to inclement weather.
