A fire broke out on Saturday around 1 p.m. in an apartment in Vallorbe (VD), reports the Vaud cantonal police in a press release. Two dogs were found dead of asphyxiation in the accommodation.

The tenants of the apartment, located on the 2nd floor of a building on the Route de Premier, were absent when the fire started. The fire services and the gendarmerie immediately intervened to contain the fire, and the building was evacuated as a preventive measure.

Open investigation

The flames and smoke significantly damaged the apartment, police said. Two accommodations below also suffered water damage during the extinguishment. Apart from the tenants of the three damaged apartments, the inhabitants were able to return to their accommodation at the end of the followingnoon. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the fire.
