The animal, which had been missing for several days, was found stuck 4 meters deep on Saturday. After many unsuccessful attempts and at least one night spent in the cold, he got out on his own thanks to a ladder.

Their efforts eventually paid off. An animal welfare association from Romanshorn (TG), local firefighters and the owner of a somewhat too adventurous cat did everything they might last weekend to save an animal that had fallen into a well in Neukirch-Egnach (TG). He was located, stuck 4 meters deep, on Saturday. He had already been missing for several days.

The president of the Thurgau animal welfare association, Irene Keller, published a message on Facebook on Saturday evening in the hope of finding the owner of the animal. “I think hearing the voice of the owner would allow the cat to calm down,” she wrote in particular on the social network. With success: the cat’s mistress came to the scene only a few hours later. Animal advocates then brought down a small camera to find out how the cat was doing. They also sent food and a blanket.

However, the rescue operation turned out to be much more complicated than expected. Indeed, all attempts to reassemble the beast have been unsuccessful. Animal protectors, firefighters and the owner of the cat have tried everything: bring down a sheet, a net, a kind of staircase and even a basket. But nothing to do. The cat remained motionless, totally frightened, at the bottom of the 30 cm diameter cavity. The people involved had no choice but to leave the animal momentarily alone on Sunday followingnoon, in the hope that it would regain its strength and manage to rise to the surface on its own thanks to a cat ladder.

Exit by itself

To everyone’s surprise, the cat Minka suddenly reappeared in the owner’s living room at 4:45 a.m. on the night of Sunday to Monday. “She entered while walking as if nothing had happened”, explains the latter. Minka managed to get out of the well by using the ladder built by the animal protectors. “The evening before, we made food available at the exit of the well. The smell should encourage it to climb up and get out on its own.

The owner is very happy with this outcome and thanks those who have mobilized for her pet. The latter was grateful because, when two assistants from the Romanshorn animal welfare association showed up at the owner’s home on Monday morning, Minka let herself be petted quietly and snuggled up once morest their legs. The mistress of the kitten is convinced of this: “Normally, she does not even come out of her hiding place when strangers are at home. We felt gratitude in his gesture!”
