The news fell at the end of the day on Tuesday: Vincent Lindon will be the president of the jury for the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will take place from May 17 to 28, 2022.

It can count on eight other members, including Swedish actress Noomi Rapace and Iranian director Asghar Farhadi (see box).

“It is an immense honor and a very great pride to be entrusted, in the midst of the tumult of the multiple events that we are going through in the world, with the splendid and heavy task of presiding over the Jury of the 75th Cannes International Film Festival”, declared the main interested party, quoted in the press release of the festival.

After Huppert and Depardieu

He therefore succeeds American director Spike Lee, who chaired the event last July, alongside Mylène Farmer, Mélanie Laurent and Tahar Rahim.

Isabelle Huppert was the last French personality to chair the jury, in 2009. Before her, Yves Montand (1987), Gérard Depardieu (1992) and Isabelle Adjani (1997) had the honor of occupying this prestigious position.

Vincent Lindon will have to choose the Palme d’or from the 21 films in competition. He will be supported by a jury made up of four women and four men.
