The Charleroi Federal Judicial Police (PJF), at the initiative of the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office and a Charleroi investigating judge, assisted by other federal judicial police and by special units, civil protection and CIK Hainaut, carried out an operation on Wednesday in the Charleroi and Liège regions once morest a cannabis production and trafficking network.

A meticulous investigation, carried out for more than a year, is at the origin of the police operation. “The operation does not stem from information collected following the decryption of messages exchanged in SkyECC messaging. It is nevertheless the same type of groups of authors coming from the Balkans and mostly Albanian-speaking”said the federal police.

Forty simultaneous searches led to the dismantling of ten cannabis plantations for a total of more than 10,000 cannabis plants. “Several dozen people were arrested and deprived of their freedom. Large seizures of cash and luxury goods (watches, bags, cars, etc.) and weapons also took place“, concluded the federal police.
