Park Ji-hyeon, former chairman of the Joint Emergency Response Committee of the Democratic Party of Korea, announced that he would run for party leader, saying, “I will cut out the rotten areas and fill the holes.” Regarding the prospect of running into the convention because he’s not a member of the Rights Party, he said that “registration will be accepted.”

At a press conference in front of the main gate of the National Assembly on the 15th, former Chairman Park said, “I decided to run for the party’s representative to transform the Democratic Party into an open party that can listen to various voices, take care of people’s livelihoods and solve the crisis.”

“I will break up with hypocrisy and create a ‘more strict Democratic Party’,” Park said. “Party members who cause social trouble will not only be disciplined by the Ethics Committee, but will also be subject to criminal prosecution,” he said.

He also said, “There is no real reflection or renewal unless we cross the country (former Justice Minister). If I become a representative, I will definitely cross the river of my country.”

In order to keep the promises of the presidential and local elections, he said that he would also promote the establishment of a ‘promise legislative promotion group’. He also said that he would create a party that might embrace the general public rather than a strong support group. He said, “We will strengthen the democracy within the party so that the fandom does not take over. We will make it compulsory to hold a regional party member meeting once a year.”

Regarding Lee Jae-myung, standing adviser, he said, “I think it’s good to take a break from this squadron,” he said. He added, “If you come out, both the party and Rep. Lee Jae-myung will be hurt.”

It is predicted that former Chairman Park will have difficulty running for the 8/28 National Convention because he does not have qualifications as a member of the Rights Party. The Democratic Party will receive registration of candidates for the National Convention on the 17th and 18th. However, since Park does not have the right to be elected, there is a high possibility that even if he registers, it will be rejected. When asked by reporters regarding this, he said, “There is not enough justification to accompany me. I think (registration) will be accepted.” .

Meanwhile, former Chairman Park announced his candidacy in front of the main gate of the National Assembly. In order to reserve the National Assembly Communication Hall, members of the National Assembly need to reserve a place, but in the case of former Chairman Park, there is an observation that he may not have been able to find a lawmaker to make a reservation for.
