It is for this reason that they exhorted the current minister, Hernán Condori, to take the issue as a priority, not only in terms of National Cancer Lawbut also in relation to the supply of medicines.

As detailed by the National Cancer Alliancethere are more than 175,000 oncology patients who cannot undergo proper chemotherapy, radiotherapy or other treatment, due to the lack of drugs, which aggravates their health situation.

“Cancer does not wait, it is not stopped by the political crisis, the change of authorities or the pandemic. We cannot stop for any reason, we need the commitment and political will of the authorities to ensure continuity of access to decent cancer care. ”, they expressed.

On the other hand, they ask the Government that the sooner the law that was enacted on August 10, 2021 to ensure that all cancer patients have the opportunity to receive treatment, before, during and following receiving a cancer diagnosis.

Let us remember that this law was promulgated in the newspaper El Peruano, the National Cancer Law, which aims to guarantee universal, free and priority coverage of health services for all cancer patients, regardless of the type of cancer they suffer from, with the purpose of ensuring access to the fundamental right to health under equal conditions and without discrimination.

Likewise, this law is applicable at the national level to all public, private or mixed institutions or companies whose purpose is to provide oncological health services within the framework of Universal Health Insurance (AUS).

In the same context, in article 3 of this law, it explains that the State guarantees access and comprehensive cancer coverage, which includes the provision of promotion, prevention, control and cancer care services in any of its manifestations, forms or denominations. , which makes it possible to ensure quality treatment for people diagnosed with said disease, at the national level and progressively according to the development and availability of resources, including multisectoral and intergovernmental actions.
