“Hold together, because what we can’t do alone, we can do together,” Xavier Naidoo asks his fans. The tour planned for the summer has to be postponed once more.

Singer Xavier Naidoo (50) has canceled his Open Air Tour 2022. The artist’s management announced that the concerts would have to be canceled once more due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated planning uncertainty, following they had already been postponed several times. The “Südkurier” had previously reported on it.

“I hope that we will all soon have overcome this pandemic together and that I can finally play my tour,” quoted the Naidoo management. “Hold on and above all stick together, because what we can’t do alone, we can do together.” Concerts in Ulm, St. Goarshausen, Mönchengladbach, Salem, Füssen, Rostock, Kassel and Halle (Saale) are affected by the cancellation.

Always controversy

Naidoo has made a name for himself as a soul singer and with the group Söhne Mannheims. During the 2006 World Cup, the German national team played his song “Dieser Weg” in the dressing room before the games. Later, there was increasing controversy surrounding the singer.

In 2020, RTL took him out of the jury for the show “Deutschland sucht den Superstar” – a video had previously appeared showing him singing a song with lyrics that many criticized as racist. Naidoo wrote on Facebook that his statements had been misinterpreted. In recent years he has repeatedly been accused of being close to racism and right-wing extremist conspiracy stories, but the singer defends himself once morest this criticism.
