Cancellation of Prince of Persia Remake: Ubisoft responds to rumors | Xbox One

The development of the remake of Prince of Persia is not a long calm river. Announced in September 2020 with an unappealing trailer, the game which was first in the hands of Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai was recently entrusted to Ubisoft Montréal. While we still haven’t seen anything regarding the progress of the project, several rumors around a probable cancellation began to appear on the web.

“The game is no longer scheduled for fiscal year 2023”

Over the past few days, several players have noticed that it is no longer possible to pre-order the game on certain online sales platforms, especially in the United States. Amazon or GameStop have indeed stopped offering the game for sale on their site, suggesting that it might ultimately be canceled.

Faced with these questions, Ubisoft commented on the situation in the columns ofIGN :

The development of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake will now be led by Ubisoft Montreal. We are proud of the work done by Ubisoft Pune and Ubisoft Mumbai, and Ubisoft Montreal will benefit from their lessons as the new team continues the work to deliver an excellent remake.

As a result, we are no longer targeting a release in fiscal year 2023 and the game has been delisted. [ndlr : des boutiques en ligne]. If players wish to cancel their pre-order, they are encouraged to contact their retailer. They will be kept informed of the project as development progresses.

So that clarifies things a lot. The game is once once more postponed without further details regarding its release window. It is hoped that this will allow the publisher to revise upwards the attention paid to the license which deserves to return in its best light.
