In June, author Margaret Atwood released a fireproof version of her best-selling book The maid’s report (1985) to draw attention to the rampant “censorship” of literary works in the United States. In fact, there is no end to the news regarding books that are threatened with a boycott. More and more titles are disappearing from more and more libraries. In early 2022, a Tennessee state school board voted for Art Spiegelmans Maus to be banned from classes for “offensive language”. The comic is regarding the Nazi era and its victims: Spiegelman is a descendant of Holocaust survivors, Maus was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 1992. One has almost stopped wondering and takes note of bans on promised books.
