MONTREAL – The Montreal Canadiens and defenseman William Trudeau signed a three-year entry contract on Thursday.
The contract, which ties the 20-year-old skater to the team until the conclusion of the 2024-25 season, will net Trudeau US$750,000 if he plays in the NHL in 2022-23 and includes a signing bonus $92,500 If he plays in the American League, he will receive $80,000 and $10,500 in the juniors.
The 113th overall fourth-round pick of the Canadiens in 2021, Trudeau has spent the last three seasons in the uniform of the Charlottetown Islanders in the QMJHL, collecting 90 points (20 goals, 70 assists) in 166 games.
The recent injury suffered by Giani Faibrother, as well as the recall of Corey Schueneman by the CH, contributed to Trudeau starting the campaign in Laval.
