Canadian director Evan Reitman dies at 75

The Canadian director and producer, Evan Reitman, who was famous for his film production, passed away at the age of 75 comedian Animal House in 1978, and directed by Ghostbusters, in 1984.

Reitman passed away “peacefully in his sleep on Saturday night at his home in Montecito, state Californiahis family told the Associated Press.

A statement to the family said: “Our family is saddened by the unexpected loss of a husband, father and grandfather, who taught us to always look for the magic in life.”

The statement added, “We are relieved that his work as a director has brought countless others around the world laughter and happiness. While we mourn in private, we hope that those who knew him through his films will always remember him.”

Ritman is best known for his big comedies Bill Murray His first starring role in Meatballs and then once more in Stripes, but his most significant success came with the 1984 film Ghostbusters.

Other notable films he has directed include Twins, Kindergarten, Dave, Junior and Six Days Seven Nights. He also produced the films “Beethoven”, “Old School”, “A European Journey” and many more, including several for his son, director Jason Reitman.

The late was born in Czechoslovakia in 1946 where his father owned the largest vinegar factory in the country. When the Communists began imprisoning the capitalists following the war, the Reitmanns decided to escape, when Ivan Reitmann was only four years old, traveling on a barge bound for Vienna.

He studied music and drama at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and then started making short films.
