OTTAWA, May 24, 2022 (Xinhua) Canadian Defense Minister Anita Anand announced Tuesday that Canada will donate more military aid to Ukraine.
The Minister said in a press statement that her country will send more than 20,000 artillery rounds of the NATO 155 mm caliber to support the Ukrainian army.
This ammunition can be fired from rifles including the M777 howitzers donated by Canada and its allies to the Ukrainian forces, and for which members of the Canadian Armed Forces have provided training to their counterparts in the Ukrainian security forces, according to the press release.
The statement indicated that this ammunition was obtained from the United States at a cost of 98 million Canadian dollars (80 million US dollars), noting that work is underway to expedite this urgent assistance and deliver it to Ukraine as soon as possible.
