We know: Long distance travel is part of life for high-level athletes, especially in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Montreal Canadiens are not immune next season when it comes to this issue.

In fact, Martin St. Louis’ team will become the third team in the Eastern Conference behind the Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning to drive the most miles between 2024 and 2025, A total of “approximately 69,684 kilometers (or 43,300 miles)”) according to statistics compiled by X account @TJStats and retweeted by @BR_OpenIce.

Teammates Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield can take comfort in the fact that they are far from the ones who have flown the most, though. In fact, almost all of the five clubs most disadvantaged by long-distance travel are in the West, with the Dallas Stars at the top of the list. The Panthers finished second and the Anaheim Ducks took the podium.

The Edmonton Oilers find themselves in fourth place. Finally, the Utah Hockey Club came in fifth.

Also note that the 10 teams with the fewest road trips next season are all in the East. And, the Pittsburgh Penguins will have the biggest advantage, having to travel only 51,016 kilometers (or 31,700 miles).
